Third Sunday of Lent-Year C 7th March 2010
Welcome to our parish of St Mary's, Bodmin in Cornwall. We are a Roman Catholic parish belonging to the diocese of Plymouth. We comprise the churches of St Mary and St Petroc in Bodmin, St Michael in Wadebridge, St Petroc & St Saviour in Padstow and St Paul the Apostle in Tintagel. St Mary's Catholic Primary School is located close to the church in Bodmin. There are two members of the congregation of the Daughters of Mary and Joseph in our parish, Sr Pauline and Sr Barbara. We greatly benefit from their prayer and parish work. Bodmin is one of the nine key parishes in Cornwall. In October 2005 Bishop Christopher Budd opened our new Parish Centre which is regularly used by parishioners and outside groups. The presbytery in Bodmin and the parish office are situated in the Parish Centre. The office is open from 9am to 1pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, telephone 01208 72833.
Our parish priest is Revd Canon Keith Mitchell who is based at the presbytery in Bodmin.
We record the Sunday Mass from our parish church in Bodmin every week. You can listen to it by clicking on this link. Also, we record some of the talks given by our priests and catechists. See the Courses and Retreats page.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults Are you, or is someone you know, seeking to enter the Catholic Church? RCIA is a process through which non-Catholics may discover the teaching, tradition, prayer and worship of the Catholic Church. If you are interested please have a word with Fr Keith.
ANNUS SACERDOTALIS - Year For Priests.
Pope Benedict has dedicated the 12 months from 19th June 2009 (Solemnity of the Sacred Heart) as the Year of the Priest. He is calling on all priests to strive for spiritual and moral perfection, and thus to become better leaders of the parishes committed to their charge. He also asks all Catholics to pray for the growth of their priests in holiness, and for vocations. During Lent 2010 we shall be having periods of Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament when our prayers will be focussed on priests and vocations. Go to this link to listen to the course given in our parish in November 2009 by Fr Keith and Robbie Low.
